  1. What is MyChart?
  2. MyChart is a free, secure online patient portal. By signing up for MyChart, patients may have the ability to:

    • Access portions of your medical record online, including test results, medication records, immunization records and more
    • Pay Your Bill
    • Request prescription refills
    • Request appointments
    • Communicate electronically with your physician's office through secure messaging
  3. How do I sign up?
  4. The first step in signing up is to secure an activation code.

    If you have recently visited the practice for an appointment, your activation code and instructions were provided to you at discharge.

    If you already have an activation code,

  5. My access code does not work. What should I do?
  6. For your security, your activation code expires after 14 days and is only valid for one-time use. Please contact the location where the code was issued or to request a new code. You can also email us at or call (919) 785-3400 for assistance.

  7. Why do I need to provide an email address?
  8. Your email address is required to activate your account. We will send emails to your personal email address to notify you that you have new MyChart messages or that new information has been added to your chart. Messages sent to your personal email will not contain personal health information.

  9. Who do I contact if I have further questions?
  10. If you have questions regarding information contained in your medical record, please contact your physician's office.

    Your Health Information

  1. What information is available in MyChart?
  2. MyChart provides access to portions of your medical information. This includes a summary of your previous visits, lab results and past appointments. In addition, patients can communicate directly with your healthcare team with secure messaging through MyChart. Patients can use secure messaging to request medical advice, ask questions about prescriptions or lab results, request a specialist referral and more. Our physician practices are committed to responding quickly to messages sent to us through MyChart, and our average response time is very quick.

  3. I can't find my lab results. Why?
  4. The vast majority of routine lab results will be automatically updated in MyChart -- no more waiting for a phone call or letter. Patients will receive an email when new lab results are available. Due to the sensitivity of certain diagnoses, your physician may choose to communicate test results during an office visit or over the telephone. These lab results may not be immediately available in MyChart. Additionally, labs processed for inpatients may not be included in MyChart.

  3. Where can I update my personal information (e.g. home address, email, etc.)?
  4. Once you log into your account, select the "My Medical Record" tab to navigate to the appropriate menu choice.

  5. How do I terminate my account?
  6. To close a MyChart account, please contact your physician's office or call (919) 233-0059.

  7. Who can view WakeMed MyChart records?
  8. You

    Patients can access MyChart records after you establish a login and password using your one-time use activation code. If you need an activation code, contact your physician's office or to request one. Please note that activation codes expire after two weeks.

    Your Loved Ones & Caregivers

    You may complete a request form at your physician's office to obtain proxy access for your loved ones and family members. For more information about obtaining proxy access for your loved one or caregiver please contact their physician's office..

    Your Physicians and Care Providers

    Your physicians, care providers, and financial specialists have access to portions of your MyChart records.

  9. How secure is MyChart?
  10. MyChart is very secure. Your information is encrypted and only authorized users who have been verified through an activation process can have access.

  13. Can I access MyChart on mobile devices?
  14. Yes. Once you have established a MyChart account, you can gain convenient mobile access by using the mobile application, which is available for downloaded through GooglePlay and the iTunes app store. Once downloaded, select your physician as your healthcare provider for access to your account.
